When you use your SNAP/EBT card, Double Up gives you FREE money to spend on fruits and vegetables.

- Spend $20 → Get $20 more (max per day)

How can I use my Double Up?
If you have an EBT card (SNAP benefits), you can use Double Up. No sign-up required at most locations—just bring your card.
- Use your EBT card to buy fruits and veggies.
- Get the same amount back in Double Up.
- Use that Double Up to get more fresh produce.
What can I buy?
With Double Up, you can buy:
- Fresh fruits
- Fresh vegetables
- Fresh herbs
This includes:
- Cut fruit and vegetables
- Bagged lettuce and greens
These items must not have added sugar, salt, sauces, dressings, or dips.
Ready to try?
Quick tip before you shop: Different locations use different types of Double Up (paper vouchers, coupons, or shopper cards).
- Paper vouchers (checks) are used at farmers markets and some grocery stores.
- Most grocery stores use coupons or shopper cards instead, and don’t accept paper vouchers.

Your earned Double Up doesn’t last forever, so be sure to use it soon!
- Paper vouchers expire on the date printed on them.
- Coupon and shopper card rewards expire in about 90 days.
If you have expired paper vouchers, you can exchange them for current ones through January 31 of the next year. After January 31, expired vouchers cannot be exchanged.
Double Up cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash, and no change is given if you do not use the full amount.
At the Grocery Store
How do I shop?
There are grocery stores across Nebraska that offer Double Up. Look for signs in-store or ask a cashier. Find a location near you.
Shop for Fruits and Vegetables:
- Pick out fresh produce like apples, carrots, tomatoes, or herbs.
- Only fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs count for Double Up.
What happens at checkout?
At checkout, use your EBT card to pay for your produce.
For every dollar you spend on fruits and veggies, you’ll get the same amount back in Double Up (up to $20 per day).
- Some locations provide a paper voucher.
- Some locations give you a coupon.
- Some locations add it to a shopper card.
How do I use my Double Up?
Bring your Double Up with you next time you shop to get even more fruits and vegetables. Every store is a little different, but don’t stress. Cashiers are used to this and will walk you through it quickly.
At the Farmers Market
Where do I start?
- Start at the info booth: When you arrive, go to the market booth or manager’s table and ask for Double Up Food Bucks.

Swipe your EBT card: Tell them how much you want to spend. (For example: $10, $20, etc.)
How do I shop?
Get tokens + vouchers:
- You’ll get SNAP tokens to spend on eligible food.
- And matching Double Up vouchers for fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Shop the market:
- Look for SNAP and Double Up ACCEPTED HERE signs at vendor booths.
- Use SNAP tokens for things like bread, meat, cheese, or eggs.
- Use Double Up vouchers for fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

What is SNAP?
SNAP is a federal food assistance program that helps people buy food using EBT benefits (sometimes called food stamps).

Visit the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to:
- Check if you qualify.
- Apply for SNAP.
- Learn how to get an EBT card.
What can I buy with SNAP/EBT?
You can use your EBT card to buy:
- Fruits and vegetables
- Meat, dairy, bread, and other foods
- Seeds and plants that grow food
With Double Up, you get extra Food Bucks to buy even more fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs at participating locations.
SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy alcohol, tobacco products, vitamins or supplements, pet food, or non-food household items.
Important updates in Nebraska:
- As of January 1, 2026: Soda, soft drinks, and energy drinks can no longer be purchased with SNAP benefits.
- Starting November 1, 2026: Candy can no longer be purchased with SNAP benefits.
